Technical
diving has always attracted adventurous types who want to venture
deeper, stay longer and penetrate farther into overhead environments.
But the resulting stereotype of technical divers-hulking males loaded
with equipment so complex and heavy as to preclude all those without the
requisite amount of chest hair-is far from accurate.
The fact of the matter is this: Gear packages can be customized for anyone
without sacrificing safety. Divers of every size, gender and background
have found significant benefits in learning tech diving techniques that
enhance their safety, confidence and efficiency. As a matter of fact,
if you want to know what recreational divers will be wearing and breathing
in two years, just take a look at today's tech diver.
Technical diving is no longer a niche
for extremists, hairy or otherwise. Tech diving is, more and more, the
next stage in many divers evolution from the simple awe of their first
open-water dive, to the rich satisfaction of exploring places few others
have seen. TDI
Diver Training offers a wide range of courses each providing
you with the necessary knowledge and skills to engage in breathtaking
challenges, from diving into history on unvisited wrecks, to enjoying
the silence of Rebreather diving, or simply taking advantage of extended
bottom times at favourite dive sites.
Take
Advantage of Enriched Air Nitrox (EANx) as a breathing gas. You will learn
the benefits, limits and proper procedures for using NITROX mixes from
22% to 40% oxygen content. Study the history of NITROX, Oxygen physiology,
CNS percentage tracking, planning enriched air dives, and analyzing mixes
and NITROX equipment compatibility. The Program include a half day of
classroom work and one training dives.
Enjoy NITROX's flexibility. With NITROX tables or dive computer,
NITROX can be used to extend bottom time. Used with air tables or computer,
NITROX results in your body absorbing less nitrogen-a good hedge against
decompression illness.
- Minimum age 15 years
- Minimum Open water Diver or equivalent
- Minimum of 10 logged Dives
This
course examines the use of EAN 21 through 100% (oxygen) for dives not
requiring staged decompression to a depth of 45 msw. During this course
the student receives a more in depth study of EAN and upon successful
completion of the course, graduates are able to engage in diving activities
utilizing EAN 21 through 100% oxygen without direct supervision.
- Minimum age 15 years
- Minimum cert of TDI Nitrox Diver (or equivalent)
- Proof of 25 logged open water dives
This
is the entry level certification course for recreational divers wishing
to utilize the Drager nitrox semi-closed circuit rebreathers. The objective
of this course is to train recreational divers in the benefits, hazards
and proper procedures for using any of the Drager SCR Rebreather Series.
Upon successful completion of this course, graduates may engage in diving
activities utilizing the Ray rebreather to a maximum depth of 22m.
- Minimum age 15 years
- Minimum certification of TDI Nitrox Diver or equivalent.
How to dive safely on air to a maximum of 55 metres.
With gas switches for decompression. By experimenting with deeper depths
under direct supervision, errors can be controlled, mistakes assessed
and corrected. This training is considered a significant safety breakthrough
since it has saved many divers from fatal experimentation on their own.
